Curated Collection: Zombie Romance by Amanda Young

Zombie Romance at Loose Id
by Amanda Young

Long before zombies hit their latest wave of popularity, I was fascinated by their undead shambling and never ending cravings for human flesh. From my first covert peek at the television screen long after I was supposed to be safely tucked into bed, I’ve been hooked on the undead. There’s something about the living dead that sparks the imagination and sends a delicious shiver up your spine.

The only entertainment I enjoy more than a gory movie is a good book. Horror and romance have crowded alongside each other on my bookshelves for as long as I’ve been able to read. No one was happier with the recent resurgence of zombie lore than me. When zombie novels flooded the market, I ate them up. Nevertheless, something was missing. I’d read a few horror novels and then switch to romance. Back and forth I’d go, with nothing quite hitting the right spot. Then something magical happened. People started writing the zombie stories I wanted, but with a romantic spin and the happy ending I craved.

Loose Id has more of these titles than most. Even better, they have gay romance with zombies–which is a particular subgenre I devour with relish. So…if you’re still here and reading my ramblings, I have a list of fantastic zombie themed erotic romance for you to check out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

A Not So Hollow Heart by Sharon Maria Bidwell

Mason’s facing more than one apocalypse. The darkest hours are those spent alone when memories surface and the touch of his lost love can make the most erotic of dreams horrifying. He’d rather face danger than recollect how he loved Antonio, and what he was prepared to give up for him. He’s never going to fall in love again…

That vow wavers when he rescues Kyle, although he’s certain luck had more to do with saving Kyle than anything he did. Now Mason fears something more than the walking dead. He’s afraid giving in to lust may lead to love, if the walking dead and homophobic hatred don’t murder them first.

Half a Million Dead Cannibals By Kari Gregg

All that’s keeping Riley from the man he’s falling in love with is the ruins of a city filled with half a million dead cannibals.

Strangers, Riley and Graham sheltered together in a basement storage unit when the zombie outbreak slammed into the world three months ago. They lived through the first blast of the plague, but they may not last much longer among survivors scrambling for dwindling resources. They agree to hike from the city and to the safety of the mountains.

They don’t count on the storm they hoped would cover their exit developing into a Nor’easter, though, and they sure don’t think their visibility will shrink so badly that they’ll have to hike into the leading edge of a zombie swarm, either. In the chaos of escaping the ravenous horde, they are separated, with Graham racing toward feral dog packs to the east and Riley sprinting to hostile survivors hunting them to the west.

Nobody said finding and keeping a quality guy (alive) during the apocalypse would be easy.

Meteora Trilogy 1: I Am Here By Evelyn Shepherd

Sawyer never it saw it coming. He never expected Jesse to finally respond to him. He never expected the meteors to take out LeVeque tower. He never expected an old woman to try and eat his face off. Sawyer thought that when he went into work that night it just be another boring evening at the bookstore. But the impromptu quickie in the bathroom is just the beginning. Sawyer, with his gorgeously infuriating boss Jesse, his best friend Chloe and her little brother Jaden are in for more than a boring night.

The undead are rising up and they will have to find their way through the aftermath. With the aid of Jesse’s wryly sexy ex-lover/best friend Topher, they will attempt to head south to find a safe haven in a world turned to bedlam. But with the government keeping secrets and the infected turning, it’ll prove that the nightmare is far from over.

As Sawyer struggles to come to terms with his new world, he’ll also face the conflicting truth that he is in love with not one, but two, men.

It leads him to ask life’s great question: can you find love in a zombie apocalypse?

Crimson Sins By Madeline Pryce

Created in Darkness and born of Death, three brothers carry a deadly secret. One lethal enough to make the dead outnumber the living.

Necromancer. Biohazard. Zombie. The abomination inside Bastian Hale demanded constant payment—fresh blood. Without it, he’d rot from the inside out and become little more than a mindless monster. Some called him a living vampire—others considered him contaminated. One woman would call him hers.

Morgan Cross never understood the innate necromancer power running through her veins or why ghosts and zombies sought to ruin her life. When someone’s deadly obsession throws her into Bastian’s arms, their pasts come back to haunt them and she must avoid the one thing she was born to do—claim him as her own.

Cal’s very sure he won’t stay for long. He’s been a drifter all his life and it came naturally to him to survive alone after civilization fell. He’s sure this is a temporary stopover for him. He has no intention of becoming emotionally involved with a cop who is certain to despise Cal when he learns the truth about him.

But the longer Cal stays the stronger his urge to run, but the harder it becomes to give up the safety of the community and his new friends. The harder it becomes to give up Mitch.
