Ask Loowis: BDSM M/M, M/M/F Historical Fantasy or Shifter

Dear Loowis,

I’m in the midst of writing a BDSM novella, and I need your help. I’m looking for some spicy and in depth BDSM novels and novellas from Loose Id to help fuel my inner sex kitten. I want romances that feature male/male pairings and male/male/female menage. In addition, I’m looking for historicals that double as fantasy or shapeshifter erotica. Intense BDSM, especially bondage, would be appreciated. Thank you, Loo, and stay sultry!

Peace,

emilyc

Loowis_Flowers_head_200x200Hiya Em! Can I call you Em? I’m gonna run with it, but you let me know if it’s not legit. Cool?

Cool.

So that’s a pretty specific request you’ve got going there. M/M BDSM or M/M/F BDSM isn’t too hard. But historical fantasy or shapeshifter M/M BDSM, whoa. I might not be able to hit all the points, but I’ma do my best for you here.

Hmmmm…. *rubs temples to stimulate ‘little grey cells’* Do Ids even have little grey cells? I bet Poirot would know. Loosey’s really into Poirot. Me, I like Luther better. (I’m not saying Loosey doesn’t like Luther, because how could she not? It’s Id-ris Elba!)

M/M BDSM
These aren’t for the faint of heart, because you wanted intense.

Contemporary
The Angel and the Assassin series by Fyn Alexander is a Daddy/boy heavy BDSM suspense. Dark, dirty fun. Everything by Jane Davitt & Alexa Snow is worth reading, but Bound and Determined is the only M/M BDSM (but they’ve got some hot M/M/M). Lyn Gala‘s another one to watch and she stepped out into the edge-play with Without a Net.

The Boy series by Lisa Henry & J.A. Rock is a reader fave. They can’t get enough of it. Personally, I think the macaw’s the star of the series. A Collar for Christmas by AE Lawless, despite the collaring and darker themes, somehow manages that Christmas sweetness, too.

Yeah, okay, I admit it, I’m adding A.M. Riley‘s An Elegant Corpse because it’s got a cool title, a kick-butt cover, leather lifestyle and a neat mystery as much as because it’s BDSM. But it’s all around great. So there! And Katrina Strauss‘s Blue Ruin series definitely goes to some dark, intense places without being hard on the heart. It’s good stuff, Maynard. (Loosey hates when I say that. Shh, don’t tell her.)

Shapeshifter
Well, obviously there’s your awesome Dragon in Training series. But there’s also Mya Lairis‘s Obedience Training; one of her first books but still one of my favorites.

Fantasy
A lot of fantasy is vaguely historical. This batch is more vaguely than historical.

There’s Kari Gregg‘s Spoils of War series,  J.C. Owens‘s The Emperor’s Wolf and Lisa Henry‘s super-dark and intense Tribute, all specifically on sexual slavery and loving the captor with heavy BDSM elements. Then there’s John Tristan‘s Forest of Glass that’s so atmospheric and cool.

Amazing, and seriously under-read in my Id-pinion, is the dark world of Thom Lane: Tales of Amaranth.

Science Fiction
Just the one here, but man is it ever a doozy: Interstellar Service & Discipline: Lost Star. Besides, who doesn’t know Morgan Hawke is the queen of wick-Id filthy BDSM?

M/M/F BDSM
Holding this to just a few, too. Caitlyn Willows‘s Raven and Oliver are both smoking hot, and even better, you can get them plus two more in the Maneater Boxed Set for a totally reasonable price. Ann Mayburn‘s Club Wicked menages, My Wicked Trainers and My Wicked Masters both scratch that itch, if you know what I mean. There’s the clever Master of No One by Tricia Owens with a wicked-cool dragon who hasn’t been taking his happy pills. And who could forget the menage BDSM that started it all: Morgan Hawke‘s Interstellar Service & Discipline: Victorious Star?

Now, drumroll please! Historical, and historical that doubles as shapeshifter or fantasy for $10,000, Alex….

M/M Historical BDSM

The Bound series by Ava March has been enchanting readers since the first release. Lords Oliver Marsden and Vincent Prescot have a classic Victorian problem: a father who wants duty done in the form of producing an heir. Who can’t empathize with the love you want not being the one society and family want for you? Throw in delicious, sexy BDSM and this is one hot historical!

M/M Historical Shapeshifter BDSM
AP_WolfintheFold_coverlg
Wolf in the Fold by Angela Plowman gives you your classic dissolute rake, an illicit one-night stand, and a secret much more dangerous than a whore’s taste for sadomachism. Yep, you guessed it, that whore’s a werewolf.

M/M Historical Fantasy BDSM

Fairies, folklore, even a few shapeshifters–The Greenwood by Kay Berrisford is just about the ultimate in gay, historical that doubles as fantasy-and-shapeshifter BDSM with dark themes, especially bondage.

I dare you to get closer than that. Come on, do it. Do eeeeet. Do–

Ahem. Apparently after I ditch the caffeine-high, I’ve got a lot of Id-splaining to do. (It’s worth it. Have you seen my babe in her suit? Hooooooot.)

See ya on the flipside, Em.

Oh, and P.S. If you have a question like this one about your favorite tropes or reading trend, leave it in the comments, and I’ll answer it as soon as I can.

  1. Of course you can call me Em. I’ve read (and ADORED) Bound and Determined. Fabulous! I’ll check out the others. Thank you for your help, and I know it was specific. I meant for the books to be *separate* searches, not just one. But thank you!

    Peace,
    Emily

    1. Wicked. Thanks, Em!

Little too much coffee before I hit up the little gray cells for advice. Hope you get at least some of what you were looking for. And if there’s something I missed, hit me again!
